Society for Community Action Network-India (SCAN-INDIA) is a registered non-profit, humanitarian organisation came into existence in the year 1995 on the vision and initiative of Mr.John J. Kennedy. This is one of his philanthropic endeavors in order to address the magnitude of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, drought and declining health status of people in Chittoor district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The acute poverty and deprivation of people was the major driving force behind establishing this organization by the founder and his team.
„To see sustainable and self-reliant communities which are free from poverty, hunger and discrimination and have better quality of life.“
„To improve the living conditions and quality of life of the poor and the underprivileged, with special focus on Children, Women and Youth through education, health care, skill training and economic development activities.”
SCAN-INDIA promotes education as the fundamental right for the children and youth, especially the girls. Educating girls and women is widely acnowledged as the most powerful and effective way to address the issue of poverty. We envision a world in which all children and women have quality education and job skills to reach their full potential and contribute to the welfare of the society. To achieve this goal, SCAN-INDIA started a vocational skill training in the year 2010 in Chittoor town. This center offers courses to young people in computers, tailoring, spoken english and soft skills. Furthermore, the students are tought basic entrepreneurship knowledge to enable them to become self-employed in their own village or town.
The success of SCAN INDIA is ensured by our engaged team that strongly beliefs in the value of quality education and strives towards the empowerment of the poor and underprivileged.
